Kentucky Derby Contenders: Monba has winning Versatility

Horse racing fans that put heavy stock in versatility should take a hard look at on of the Kentucky Derby Contenders named Monba. Monba is adapt at running from behind, middle of the pack or as a front runner in this year’s race for the roses.  Internet Racebook Bodog.com has Monba listed at 15 to 1 odds to win the 134th Kentucky Derby later today.

Monba has a tailor made pedigree for distance races like the Kentucky Derby and is riding momentum heading into Churchill Downs with a win at the Blue Grass. Monba doesn’t have eye popping speed rating numbers but the three-year old has shown that it can run well on dirt surfaces. Monba’s jockey Ramon Dominquez also has experience at Churchill Downs with the 2008 Kentucky Derby being his fifth straight.

Dominquez has options with the versatile Monba but he would probably be best served to run in the middle of the back before making a late run. there are more than a few betting sharps that are high on Monba but the low Beyer speed ratings makes him a suspect player out of the Kentucky Derby Contenders.
